It does not send notes to your gmail. It uses google account to authorize user.

    1. My phone (Nexus S) and my new tablet (Eee Pad Transformer) both use ColorNote. It works perfectly and the Sync is working without a flaw. I have also been using the notes the write my eMails, with the note open, select Menu, Send, and you eMail client. The note title becomes the subject line in the eMail, and the rest of the note becomes the body of the eMail. With this same technique I create eMail templates to file out later to eMail. I now have 20 templates in my notes I use weekly.
Thanks for such a great app.

  7. Hi..I just synced my ColorNotes using Gmail...but I don't understand how this will help if my phone is stolen or broken. Where is the "Colornote Online Service?" ..How would I view and restore my synced notes to a new phone?(forgive me if this is a dumb question, I'm fairly new to all this...

  8. I've got a phone and a tablet, both with notes on.
Can I set both up to sync with each other without losing anything?

  10. Hi, I also am wondering how to view/access online sync of notes. I do love the app and have an extensive collection of notes. Also, can notes be updated in the online location and syncd with phone? Thank you!

  11. Is there a way to disable the online sync functionality and go back to SD card. Even when I signed out I don't see the backup option. It keeps on displaying the "session expired" message.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Is there a way to customise the reminder sound ? I just find it is easy to miss a reminder if you don't have the phone with you and being able to play a longer reminder sound would be very useful.

  13. i have the same problem as Cornhusker

i get a notification from color note to say "session expired"

how can i remove the account information so that sync does not try to sync

i have uninstalled and reinstalled but color note still has my google account details in the sync properties with no option but to sign in or sign out.

even when you sign out my google account details are still there and i get the notification about "session expired" every hour or more

i do not want to use the sync option at all

  14. It looks like my automatic backups to SD card stopped after this update (dates coincide). Now when I try to do it manually it says "Backup failed". The password is correct. I am, however, able to sync online.

  15. Great app! Fantastic and getting better, especially with the online sync. May I request for one feature: Copy Note. This will allow users to create "master" lists, lock, then duplicate them when needed for actual use. For instance, a receipe master ingredient list. When I need to shop for the ingredients, I just dupe the master and check off the "work" list. Thanks!

  16. It is a good idea to sync with desktop too, only make some OS independent application, to online sync - i sign in to online sync, now i want to sign out from online sync and all my notes are deleted, i restore my notes from sd card, but after backup restore im automaticly sign in - so how can i sign out?

  17. After I Have synced My notes on App. Where can I find them on Gmail how I can edit them on Pc & get updated record on Android Mobile also saves and created on PC.

    Please Reply Thanks

  18. I started to enabled online sync but changed my mind before completing the sign up process. But ColorNote seems to think I completed it and now keeps prompting me to enter a password for an email account. No password seems to work as I'm sure the signup was not successful. There seems no way to disable this account and attempt to sign up again. I tried to use the "Sign Out" menu option but it then takes me straight back to the sign in screen.

    In on CN 3.6.6

  19. @Ian - can you back up your notes to your SD then clear the app's data from the Android Settings > Applications. With ColorNote wiped, you could re-import from the SD and return to a good state.

Anyone got any thoughts on my merging phone & tablet issue?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thanks @fishbowler. Clearing the app data worked.

  21. to Ian - no, it is not good, see higher

  22. What's the point of syncing with google if you cannot view via google?

    ReplyDelete
  23. @newton2ii - backup. You're not syncing with GMail, you're syncing with the Google Apps cloud. What would you expect from Facebook sync? Don't get me wrong, GMail sync would be *awesome*.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Is there any way to send email to my colornote to have it as task list or shopping list? Thanks for helping.

    ReplyDelete
  25. GMail sync would be lovely. What's the point of sync with Google cloud if I can get to see my notes. Not useful a t all

  26. ColorNote - Need sync to SOMETHING accessible on desktop. Is this in the works?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well if your not syncing with gmail, what's the point?
Why don't you let everyone know ahead of time that this does not support gmail? How do u get your. If. You've synched and your phone is lost or stolen?

  28. sent my back up files to the other android phone. but where should i place the backup files to use it in the other phone? i tried sdcard/colournote/backup but cant open my saved files.

  29. So what is the point of syncing to my google account if I do not have tablet or "new phone"?. Great app BTW.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Nice / Mauricio - the point is that if your phone is lost or stolen, you can set up sync on your replacement handset and immediately get all your notes back. This works equally well if you buy a New Android phone, or if an operating system upgrade requires a wipe.

  31. I understand that the online sync does not store a copy of the backup/notes within your google account, however where is the data actually stored and how safe is it?
I think this is a very good app but not too sure how secure the online sync is for personal info etc.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Once the online sync of ColorNotes has happened with my google account, where can we find all the syncronized notes in my google account??

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Arun - You can't. The sync isn't meant for online access. It's meant purely for backup. If you lose your phone you can enter your google details on your new phone and get your notes back.

And also some kind of way to organize it from desktop pc (web client, chrome plugin, gmail - anyhow)

Gmail synchronizing feater - is awesome!

  38. The App is very useful. Please add

    - a browser client to access from Desktop/PC
    - a tree based structure to group notes
    - shareable notes with other accounts

    You save my day :-)

  39. I cannot find backup menu.
When I go to Sign Out [Menu - Sign out], it warns me that the notes on the phone will be cleared after online sync.

Can I sign out and still be able to keep my notes?
I don't have sd card installed and I don't want to lose my notes.

  40. Asking same question wherevin google can i see the sycned colornotes? Because if i want to update it online there is no way to do that.

  41. Babar - you're on the right track - the Sync feature isn't for viewing online, but for disaster recovery or switching between devices. Re-creating it is a little tricky. You'd need to set up Sync, create some notes (or the other way round), then uninstall the app. Remove any trace of the notes from the SD card. Re-install the app - it should open blank. Set up sync again and the notes will appear.

  42. I did not do any sync... I backed up all my colornote .dat and .idx files from sd card manually and then upgraded my OS version on Android HTC Desire. I downloaded the colornote app again and I cant see any notes. I found the old files (.dat & .idx) still exists on the sdcard but they wont load. How can I retrieve data from the .dat and idx files I have ? Please help...

  44. @Kenz - any error messages?

@Sheraz - did you solve your problem? I've had the same thing before and solved it, but can't remember how it was done. If you did, can you post here so that Googlers might happen across it?

  45. How do I fix this? Every time I close colornote or try to sync I get this:

    Sorry!
The application ColorNote (process com.socialmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note0 has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

  46. I have the same small problem with my ColorNote app that a number of others have!

I originally had the Online Sync functionality pointing to a particular Gmail account, I now want it to point to a different one, when I press “Sign in with Google”, I get the dialogue box expecting me to Allow access, but I want to change the account it links to but I can’t force it to do that, any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  47. @Andrew - I've not had cause to try this before.

Have you tried visiting Google.com in your default browser and signing out - that might give you more options.

If that doesn't work, what about going to https://accounts.google.com/b/0/IssuedAuthSubTokens and revoking access to ColorNote?

Disclaimer: I'm nothing to do with the development of this app - I'm just another user.

  48. Fishbowler, sorry for the delay in getting back to you; tried that and it didn't work. Thanks anyway!

  49. As soon as I click on the ColorNote App, it takes me to the "Sign In" page for online backup. I have a warning at the stop stating that my 'Connection expired please sign in again'.

It shows me my old Gmail address and I click on the "Sign in with Google" button.

It pops up the Google 'requesting permission' page, I don't want to allow access because this is my old address and I want to change which one it backs up with. So I click on my profile pic because I know the way Google works and this should give me a sign out option so hopefully I can sign in again with my new Gmail account.

It quickly loads a dialogue box that has the 'Sign Out' link but it's too quick and I can't hit the link in time. The whole Google 'Sign In' box then turns white and I can do anything except hitting the back button on the phone (HTC Sensation btw), doing this just takes me back to the back up 'Sign in' page!

  50. Lost all my data last night. Using ColorNotes 3.6.6. on an Evo 4g phone. When I first installed last year, was not aware of the backup function. Have plugged my phone into my PC and see the data for the notes - it must be on my card. Is there a way to get that data back into notes? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Andrew - do you have any other browsers installed?

@Agent - What folder is the data in?

    ReplyDelete
  52. To Fishbowler; It is in Data/Colornote/Backup. Those seem to be the fles, however, I can't open them to see. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  53. @Agent - looking at other ColorNote posts around the net, some have had luck with Menu > Settings > SD Card Backup. When prompted, give it 0000 as a passcode.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @Andrew - which is your default browser? Was thinking that the auth might call the default rather than the stock. Sorry - I don't have a 2nd Google acct to test with...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Fishbowler: IT WORKED!!! Thanks for all the help. I will now set it up for auto sync through my Gmail unless you think there is a better way. Once again, thanks. I didn't have a lot of notes but the ones i had were important.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @Agent - absolutely the best & safest way. Remember that you won't be able to read your notes online, only restore them to your device if/when you next have data loss.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Please oh please add a few key features.
    1. Add PASTE as an input method for a new note. So that I can copy things from anywhere on my phone and save them as a note. This would be particularly handy to be able to copy from an email and paste into a note.
    2. Voice to text would be spectacular for quick notes.
    3. Last but certainly not least, as mentioned by others, please sync with google tasks. I really find it a nuisance to input information on my phone but if I could do it on my laptop and sync it my life would be so much easier and better-organized!
